All About St George's Church, Brentford

In celebration of the church plans being approved to undergo a sympathetic redevelopment of St George's Church Brentford, we have revamped our website to have information only about the church for a few weeks.

Here you can find out about its relatively short history and what is happening to it now. News, views, documents and images on what has been going on to do with redevelopment plans.

Our six year battle to save the church has involved

• intense research of historic records in local libraries and the London Metropolitan Archives
• contributions from local Brentford, Isleworth and Chiswick residents
• working with the Brentford & Chiswick Local History Society to perform an historic audit
• articles and letters in the local press - the Brentford, Chiswick & Isleworth Times (now Hounslow Brentford Times)
• representations at Council meetings encouraging refusal of a planning application to demolish most of St George's Church and retention of just the tower
• fighting the subsequent appeal by the developer
• informing other developers of all possible options to retain the buildings
• caretaking the premises
• cleaning up the public facing areas
• removing graffiti
